Promoting Hope, Healing and Acceptance

Mapping Project

A key part of this project is bringing together those who have an interest in supporting veterans and their families, helping us better understand what chaplaincy provision already exists across Scotland and where there may be opportunities to strengthen it.

We are keen to work collaboratively with organisations, communities and chaplains across the veterans’ sector to ensure that veterans and their families can easily find and access the support that is right for them. Chaplaincy is one part of a wider network of care, and we recognise the vital contribution made by many different agencies and services. Through this project, we hope to strengthen connections, improve awareness of available support, and encourage greater partnership working across the sector.

As chaplains, we often walk alongside veterans while they are engaging with other forms of support, whether that be housing, financial advice, healthcare or mental health services. By working together, we can help ensure veterans receive holistic support that meets their practical, emotional, pastoral and spiritual needs.

Ultimately, we hope this project will create a stronger sense of connection and collaboration across Scotland, resulting in a well-connected network of chaplains and organisations that supports veterans and their families and makes it easier for everyone to know where help can be found.

“We see chaplaincy as a complementary part of the support landscape, not something that competes with other services.”
